I was an independent teenager growing up in vibrant NYC’s East Village. A punk, purple haired and boyish, Out lesbian. Though my passion was always dance, having the confidence to even attend a single class wouldn’t of been possible without the support of my heroes, my Trans sisters and the Queer community that surrounded me. I like to say that I was ‘’raised by a pack of wild drag queens.’’ What followed was a successful 15 year career as a dancer, choreographer and showgirl. Happily, the boyish part never left completely. A quote from my father as he rejected me and I was no longer welcomed in his home. ‘’What are you gonna do?! Go out and wave your freak flag??!!’’ Now I’m an award-winning costume designer, but I’ve come back to dance and create an all inclusive, safe, non-intimidating and healthy environment that celebrates all of us. Especially the ‘’us’’ that doesn’t always fit inside the box.
